I developed a love of movement at a very early age through dance. I began teaching dance as a high school student and continued throughout college. I attended Webster University, where I completed my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance in 2010. It was in college that I took my first Yoga and Pilates classes, but not until later that I found how passionate I could be about both.
While living in New York I began working on my Pilates mat certification. Pilates is so meticulous, that I discovered it was a wonderful way to keep both my body and mind active. I enjoyed working on the mat so much that I needed to know more. I began a second certification to teach the Reformer, Chair, and Cadillac machines. Learning to work with each machine was difficult but very rewarding. The props and machines of Pilates allows so much creative freedom and ability to truly provide each body exactly what they need to find alignment and strength.
The rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind and the harmony of the soul create the symphony of life."
I had taken a little hiatus from both Dance and Pilates, when I discovered my love of Yoga. My mind has always been as active as my body, which is to say, it's never quiet. Through Yoga, though, I found a place where my body and mind could be present. I practiced at many studios throughout my last years in New York, but it's wasn't until I moved to Austin that I decided to take the next step. I completed my Yoga Teacher Training (Yoga Alliance RYT 200) in the spring of 2016. I was so excited and eager to learn more I immediately jumped into a Children's Yoga teacher training (Yoga Alliance RCYT). I am incredibly enthusiastic about teaching yoga to kids! I can't wait to share what I've learned with children of all ages! Yoga has changed the way I dance and teach Pilates and move around during my daily life. The Pranayama (breath control or freedom of breath) that is taught during Yoga is something that can be incorporated into all movement. I am so happy and grateful to have found my path to Yoga!
When not teaching, I spend a lot of my free time cooking and baking. I love cooking healthy dishes, but my sweet tooth is insatiable! While I haven't performed aerial dance in a long time, I still love climbing when I can. Aerial silks is my specialty, but the hammock, rope and trapeze are so fun too! I am still new to Austin and getting used to the heat. So far, however, I am loving the weather, people, and atmosphere of Austin.
I'd love to see you either in person in one of my classes, or watch any of my videos online!
